Moroccan speaker urges for end of illegal and disproportionate war in Iraq
Morocco-Iraq, Politics, 4/10/2003

Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives (lower parliamentary chamber), Abdelouahed Radi, on Tuesday told the Inter-parliamentary union 108th session, held in Chile this Apr.06-12, the US-British "illegal, disproportionate and immoral war" against Iraq has to stop.

The official denounced the war in which the two coalition countries are using ultra-modern weapons, including cluster bombs, reports a release of the House of Representatives. For Radi who stressed that this an "unfair and illegitimate" war since it contradicts the UN security council resolutions and is an interference in Iraq's domestic affairs, opting for war in civilized societies is only justified and legitimate if it is based on law.

After the Iraqi issue was referred to the world body that adopted several initiatives and resolutions for disarmament inspectors to conduct their mission in appropriate conditions and after there were numerous indications of a settlement, the two security council members defied the opinion of most of the world leaders and waged a unilateral military action against an Arab state's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also wondered on the pertinence of imposing on the entire world the war option without the international community green light and despite the anti-war demonstrations in most of the world capitals, including in the USA and Britain.

Radi further touched on the Palestinian issue, saying the shelling and bombs targeting Iraq should not obliterate the sufferings endured by the unarmed Palestinian people.

Starting from our firm faith in the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause, we will continue to endeavor with all peace-loving forces and within all international encounters and bodies to enable the Palestinian people recover their rights, he vowed.
