Chile supports Morocco in Sahara issue
Morocco-Chile, Politics, 4/10/2003

Speaker of the Chilean senate, Andres Zaldivar, said Tuesday his country supports Morocco in the Sahara issue and is ready to continue to back the Kingdom in the United Nations Organization.

The Chilean official who was meeting a Moroccan parliamentary delegation currently visiting the Chilean capital also commended Morocco's balanced stances and the will of King Mohammed VI to boost relations with Chile.

The Moroccan parliamentary delegation, led by speaker of the House of Representatives (lower chamber), Abdelouahed Radi, took part in Santiago in the 108th conference of the inter-parliamentary union (Apr.6-12).

The Moroccan official praised Chile's courageous stances during the UN security council debates on Iraq, which produced additional evidence to the South American country's adherence to a "wise and perspicacious foreign policy and to peace, dialogue and the quest of negotiated solutions."

The Moroccan MPS had met chairman of the foreign affairs committee at the Chilean senate, speaker of the chamber of deputies and the IPU chairman.
