Maher and the war against Iraq
Egypt-Iraq, Politics, 4/10/2003
The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher has stressed the need of mobilizing international efforts in order to put an end for the conditions taking place in Iraq and the inhuman deteriorated conditions in this country as a result of the American- British aggression against it.
The Egyptian minister noted that France's Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin will visit Cairo during the few coming days in order to strengthen Egyptian- French coordination to halt the aggression against Iraq.
In press statements he made yesterday in Cairo, Maher stressed the need of honoring the sovereignty, independence and freedom of the Iraqi people, and strongly rejected any attempt to impose a government by Washington and London to run the affairs of Iraq.
On the other hand, Maher called on the US to set a mechanism to implement its plan for establishing an independent Palestinian state with the fall of the year 2005, based on halting the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. He indicated that expressing the desire to establish the Palestinian state is not enough without having a concrete and credible plan.
