Invasion of Iraq augurs US hegemony on the world, Moroccan papers write
Morocco-Iraq, Politics, 4/9/2003
Several Moroccan papers on Tuesday said the invasion of Iraq is auguring the United States' hegemony on the world, questioning the role the United Nations in the new world order.
"It's crystal clear that the US-British aggression against brotherly Iraq does not solely aim to occupy and redesign the Middle-East in a way subservient to the vital interests of the United States and the Zionist entity, but also unveils Washington's intention to rule the world and control its destiny with an iron fist," writes daily paper Attajdid, of opposition Justice and Development party.
For Al Alam, (Istiqlal party, government), "War against Iraq is the first step of a strategy (É) seeking to consecrate the United States as the one and only polar superpower."
To better illustrate the spirit of the US-British enterprise, "Liberation," (of the Socialist Union of Peoples Forces, government), ironically pointed to the fact that these two armies, which have come "to liberate" the Iraqi people and rid the country of mass destruction weapons, are behaving like "vile occupants."
"Aujourd'hui le Maroc," independent, says that this war will result in a new deal belying a new approach in both international relations and world balance of power."
"International NGOs' very existence is threatened, governments may be toppled and leaders may well just vanish either willingly or coerced," forecasts the paper.
