Jalabi and the provisional government in Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 4/9/2003

The chairman of the Iraqi opposition National Congress, Ahmad al-Jalabi, spoke of contacts with the leaders of opinions in the southern areas of Iraq to mobilize them in preparations to establish a democratic system in Iraq.

In an interview with the BBC yesterday, al-Jalabi added that Iraqi military forces are taking part in the liberation of Iraq and defeating the Baath party and Saddam Fedayeen in various Iraqi areas, noting that the American government supports the establishment of a democratic system and that the opposition strongly supports the Americans to choose Iraqi leaders.

Al-Jalabi indicated that the opposition supports the continued presence of the American forces in Iraq without intervention in the administrative and political affairs, and calls for a provisional government until the establishment of a democratic Iraqi government following free elections on the ground of a permanent constitution and that USA shoulders the role of protecting Iraq's independence and unity and founding a democratic system in it.
