Jordanian party deplores American accusations against Syria

Secretary General of the Baath Arab Progressive Party in Jordan, Foaad Dabour denounced on Tuesday the American accusations against Syria which are "synchronized with the Israeli threats."

In his weekly Article issued by the Jordanian Ad-Distour newspaper, he stressed that the accusations of the US Secretary of State Colin Powell and Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld aim at appease the Zionist lobby and Israel.

Dabour expressed appreciation over Syria's quick reply which asserted that Syria chooses the international law and unanimity that oppose the aggression on the Iraqi people.

Dabour pointed out that Syria has exposed the aims of the aggressive war on Iraq at the UN Security Council and international forums.

Dabour underlined that the American accusations against Syria have been the result of its firm and national stance towards the Arab-Israeli conflict and its commitment to the Arab legitimate rights.

For their part, the Christian communities in Jordan stressed their opposition of the war on Iraq.

In a statement issued today the Archbishop Vinidyktos of the Greek Orthodox affirmed that all the Christian communities support the Iraqi people. He appealed to the whole world to stop the war to spare not only Iraq but also the region and the world its catastrophic consequences.

He also stressed that the world Christian Churches denounce this war.
