Qataris elect their second municipality councils

The Qatari ministry of the interior announced that 25 members at the central municipal council in Qatar have won elections and that other 4 won also including one woman after their rival withdrew from the election.
The Qatari ministry of the interior said in a statement that 29 out of 84 Qatari candidate won the seats of the municipal council but did not indicate the rate of participation. However, news reports said that the balloting centers witnessed weak turnout during daytime and the rate of participation was between 20 to 35 percent in the 29 election circles and the rate of women's participation was high.
Four persons, including one woman, Sheikha al-Jufeira, who has become the first woman in the Gulf to win a post by election, won the elections.
On the other hand, the Amir of Qatar Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani suggested at the inauguration of the "Islamic- Christian" dialogue seminar yesterday in order to found a permanent commission for the Islamic- Christian dialogue with Doha as a headquarters.
