Arab officials, national figures voice support for Syria

Lebanese President, Emile Lahoud has denounced the U.S. accusations against Syria and Lebanon, due to their national and pan- Arab stances that oppose the U.S. aggression on Iraq.
In a speech delivered yesterday in Northern Lebanon on his behalf by Minister of Environment, Michael Mousa, President Lahoud underlined that the Anglo- American war on Iraq shows that the new world order is trying to adopt the law of jungle instead of international legitimacy.
Lahoud hailed the courageous Iraqi resistance against the invading forces.
Mufti of Tripoli and Northern Lebanon, Sheikh, Taha Sabounji expressed appreciation over President Bashar al-Assad' s pan- Arab stances that reject the aggression against Iraq and support Lebanon.
In a speech during his meeting with the Lebanese Health Minister, Suleiman Franjya, yesterday, the mufti expressed rejection of the American accusations against Syria, stressing the importance of the Syrian- Lebanese coordination.
For his part, Franjya underlined the importance of Syrian- Lebanese unified stance pointing out to the importance of the Lebanese national unity in facing challenges.
Member of the Lebanese Parliament, Ali Bezi condemned the American accusations against Syria stressing that these accusations are being used to cover the American failure in Iraq.
In a statement issued yesterday, Bezi indicated that the U.S. administration has become a "hostage of the Zionist Lobby influence that has taken full control of the administration decision- making."
For his part former member of the Lebanese Parliament, Talal al-Merbi underlined that the American accusations against Syria target all the countries that refuse to adopt the American policies in the world and Arab arena.
He pointed out that the American aggression threatens the Arab arena.
In a statement issued yesterday, Member of the Lebanese Parliament, Naser Qandeel underlined that the American aggression against Iraq aims at serving the "Zionist Israeli interests in the region and seizing Arab wealth and potentials."
For his part, Lebanon's Progressive Socialist Party's Leader, Waleed Junblat stressed the importance of supporting and protecting the national resistance in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq.
In a statement issued yesterday, Junblat underlined that the US attempts to impose a destructive project on the world indicating that the American- British aggression against Iraq aims at achieving the Israeli expansionist slogan "From the Nile to the Euphrates."
In Abu Dhabi, former Jordanian Information Minister, Saleh al-Qalab underlined that the American accusations against Syria are unjustified excluding the idea of American military acts against Syria.
In a lecture he delivered in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Qalab indicated that the U.S. would not feel stable in Iraq because the Iraqi people will not accept any foreigner to occupy their lands.
He expressed fear of the probability of the U.S. using mass destruction weapons against the Iraqi people.
Qalab expressed his country's respect of Iraq reiterating his country's stance regarding Iraq's own internal affairs, which no one should interfere in.
