Nearly 7,500 cases of lymphatic cancer in Morocco
Morocco, Health, 4/4/2003

The number of lymphatic cancer cases are estimated at 7,500 in Morocco, that is an annual rise of 1,500 cases, said professor Said Benchekroun, head of Hematology Oncology Pediatric service in Ibn Sina school hospital (CHU) in Casablanca.

"This includes nearly 60% of cases of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma," said Benchekroun in a press conference held on in Casablanca Thursday.

"Thanks to the development of monoclonal antibody-based cures, this ailment is no longer lethal and life expectancy has extended," he went on.

Dr. Ahmed Mouaddib, hematologist, said some new research allowed since the late nineties to have new therapies that led to the remission of 95% of people affected by lymphatic cancer.
