ISESCO denounces US educational programs' negative stereotypes on Moslems
Regional-USA, Culture, 4/4/2003

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO, a Rabat-based offshoot of the OIC) has denounced the "negative cliches" portrayed by the American educational programs on Moslems and Arabs.

ISESCO noted, on the basis of findings of a study conducted by the Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee on the different attitudes of the US educational system concerning Moslems and Arabs after September 11th, that "US educational programs depict Moslems as bloody people, extremists and violent who find a great pleasure in mistreating women."

ISESCO added that these "depreciatory" judgments are not addressed by the American governmental and non-governmental organizations' actions to expurgate the educational programs of strong discriminations against several ethnic and religious groups, including Arabs and Moslems.

"This biased vision ignites antagonism between cultures and civilizations by instilling amalgams into the spirits of students," deplored the organization.

ISESCO exhorted UNESCO and the concerned organizations in the United States and abroad to denounce this falsification, and urged for a collective mobilization against these "tendentious maneuvers," said the organization in a release published this Thursday.
