Arab Drama Spring Festival Officially Launched
Morocco-Regional, Local, 4/4/2003

The Arab drama spring Festival, part of events celebrating "Rabat, capital of Arab culture" was officially launched in Rabat on Wednesday.

In the opening ceremony, Moroccan Culture minister, Mohamed Achaari, urged for maintaining cultural events in spite of war against Iraq, and to "show the glittering side of the Arab culture" that contributes in enriching human culture.

Achaari seized the opportunity to pay homage to the Iraqi people, particularly artists who left Iraq under bombings to prove to the world they cling to survival and creativity.

Two plays were presented in the opening ceremony to pay homage to the Iraqi people.

Moroccan, Algerian, Iraqi, Libyan, Palestinian, Syrian and Tunisian companies are participating in the Arab drama spring (lasting until May 27).

The festival will also pay homage to several Moroccan and Arab playwrights.
