Al-Jazira TV freezes work of its correspondents in Iraq
Iraq-Qatar, Politics, 4/3/2003
The Qatari satellite al-Jazira TV announced freezing the work of all its correspondents in Iraq in protest of the Iraqi authorities' expulsion of one of its correspondents from Baghdad and preventing another from practicing his press activity.
Al-Jazira said that the Iraqi ministry of information informed Deyar al-Omari he can no longer give press reports to al-Jazira station and Teiser Allouni to leave the Iraqi territories "as soon as possible."
Al-Jazira explained it regrets this "unjustified act" and that it decided to "freeze the work of all its correspondents in Iraq, while preserving its right to live transmission and broadcasting recording materials it receives from Iraq."
