Arab, Russian dailies condemn the war on Iraq
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 4/3/2003

Arab and Russian dailies yesterday condemned the US-British aggression against Iraq and the "barbaric bombardment targeting Iraqi civilians."

In Riyadh, the Saudi daily al-Watan called on the world community to move effectively to halt the US-British war on Iraq asserting that this war is a violation of international law and UN legitimacy.

In Muscat, the Omani daily al-Watan condemned the heinous acts perpetrated by the US-British war against the Iraqi people. The daily indicated that the US destroyed the UN organization by launching the war against Iraq without any international legitimacy.

For its part, the official daily Oman asserted that the US-British war on Iraq is similar to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. The daily indicated that the devastation perpetrated by the US-British troops in Iraq might encourage Israel to commit more crimes against Palestinian citizens.

In Rabat, the Moroccan daily al-Itihad al-Ishtiraki said that the US-British aggression on Iraq constitutes the most dangerous form of imperialism and colonialism after the fall of the allegations regarding the destruction of Iraq's mass destruction weapons.

The daily added that there is nothing left for the US-British aggression but to adopt the policy of full devastation of Iraqs people and civilization.

In Algiers, the Algerian daily al-Khabar asserted that the Iraqi peoples steadfastness vis-a-vis the invading troops has foiled all the schemes that Washington and London have bet on regarding their war on Iraq.

In Moscow, the Russian daily Gazetta underlined that the basic aim of the US-British war on Iraq is the domination of the Iraqi oil.

For its part, Komer Saint daily asserted that the US is very frustrated by the failure and losses incurred in the war against Iraq asserting that this failure is caused by the Iraqi peoples resistance to defend their homeland.
