Moroccan NGOs call for more support to Iraqi people
Morocco-Iraq, Politics, 4/2/2003

Moroccan political and human rights organizations and associations reiterated condemnation of the US-British aggression on Iraq, calling for more support to the Iraqi people and the immediate halt of military operations.

Istiqlal party (PI), government, hailed the Iraqi resistance who defends the sovereignty, dignity and territorial integrity of that country.

A release made public at the end of PI's 14th congress (Mar.28-30), stressed the US-British aggression violates international law and the UN Security Council's resolutions.

In a release, the National Committee of Support to Iraq invited the Moroccan labor class and employees to observe on Wednesday a ten-minute work interruption, starting at 10 am, in solidarity with Iraq.

The Labor Democratic Confederation (CDT), on its part, stressed that the US-led aggression disregards all human values, and called Moroccan citizens to donate one day of their salaries to the Iraqi people.

Pointing out to the march of solidarity with the Iraqi people staged in Rabat last Sunday, Mohammed Lakhssassi, coordinator of the national action group of solidarity with Iraq said the demonstration was a success, reflecting Morocco's standpoint.

The National Bureau of Labor Youth and the Moroccan Liberal Party shared the same view that denounced the coalition's aggression on Iraq, which they termed as "a violation" of Geneva convention.
