Arab press and the American threats against Syria

The Emirates Newspapers al-Bayan and al-Khaleej have strongly condemned the American accusations by its defense secretary, Donald Rumsfeld ,and its Secretary of State, Colin Powell, against Syria is due to Syria's supportive stance to the Iraqi people who are facing an unjust aggression.

Al-Bayan saw that Powell's false accusations against Syria express his enmity to the Arabs and his amity to Israel.

For its part, al-Khaleej underlined that the danger of Powell's accusations comes from that they are released in front of American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) pro-Israeli lobby in the US.

The newspaper indicated that Syria is targeted due to its adherence to face Zionistic plans in the region.

In Jordan, ad-Dustour daily warned against the American accusations against Syria and Iran due to their supportive stances to the Palestinian and the Iraqi peoples.

The daily underlined the American alignment to Israel.

In Tripoli, the Libyan Paper "ash-Shams" stressed that these false accusations are due to Syria's supportive stance to the Iraqi people and they are merely lies invented by the Americans to cover their failure in front of the Iraqi resistance.

In Muscat, the Omani Daily "al-Watan" denounced the American officials' attempts to relieve pressure from Israel at the expense of the region's tension.

The Omani daily saw that Syria has the right and duty to support the Iraqi people to face their hard circumstances.

In Beirut, the Lebanese Newspaper ad-Deyar saw that America's accusations against Syria aim at forcing it to stop its support to the Iraqi people.
