Algerian president called to stop sequestered population ordeal in Tindouf
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 4/1/2003

A group of associations of survivors of the Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria where the Polisario separatists are based) sent President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria a "Call," urging him to put an end to the ordeal of "thousands of Moroccan citizens still forcibly detained in the camps by the Polisario. The Tindouf Camps survivors called on President Bouteflika to "intervene for an end to the ordeal thousands of Moroccan citizens are enduring in the south of your brotherly country at the hands of a small group called Polisario."

The Call was handed by the group to Algerian ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Mohamed Dembri, on the fringes of the 50th session of the U.N Human Rights Commission.
