Riyadh asks Hussein to quit
Saudi Arabia-Iraq, Politics, 4/1/2003

The Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal has asked the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to resign "as a sacrifice for his country's sake."

The Saudi minister said in an interview broadcast on Monday evening by ABC that as "Saddam had asked his people to sacrifice themselves for the sake of Iraq, he then has to be the first among those who sacrifice themselves for the sake of the country."

The Saudi foreign minister also called for halting the war. He said " Let's get a cease fire that will enable diplomacy to move," adding the Saudis proposed this solution because Saudis support peace rather than war and this serves the interests of the USA also.
