Bush appoints Roland Schlisher as the US ambassador to Tunisia

US President George Bush on Monday appoints Roland Schlisher as the US ambassador to Tunisia. Schlisher is currently running a work group on Iraq, formed by the US administration. He earlier served as the American general consul in Israel and a director for the Egyptian and north Africa affairs at the US Department of State which used to cover Tunisia also.
He had diplomatic posts in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt and Lebanon. He was also a chief for the civilian observers in the UN team in charge of supervising the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel in 1991- 1992. Schlisher was born in 1956 and he is fluent both in French and Arabic.
