Syria: We decided to side with the Iraqi people, international law

A Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman announced on Monday the following: Yesterday, American Secretary of States Colin Powell said in front of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) annual conference, which is the strongest Zionist lobby in the U.S., and it seemed obviously that he was offering a bill of his latest achievements to ensure that what the American administration is doing in our region serves the Israeli schemes and interests and satisfies Sharon. And in return the employees of this administration will gain a well-behaved certificate from Israel and its supporters in the United States.

In this regard Powell said "Syria must choose and must shoulder the responsibility for its choice," but Mr. Powell knows as all the world know that Syria has opted to be for international law represented by the United Nations and its Security Council and its role in keeping the international security and peace.

The spokesman added that Syria has opted to be with the international public and official unanimity which expressed opposition to the war on Iraq.

The spokesman stressed that Syria has opted to support the Iraqi people in facing the unjustified invasion on Iraqi people.
