Pumping of Iraqi oil to Syria suspended
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 4/1/2003
A source concerned with the Syrian oil industry said yesterday that Iraq has stopped its oil supplies to Syria for technical reasons in the first days of the US-led military campaign against Baghdad.
A Syrian industrial source said that the situation inside Iraq does not permit the continued flow of oil, technically.
Meantime, western industrial sources said that the oil flow to the Iraqi- Syrian pipeline stopped as the American forces started to secure the southern oil fields which produce the light crude oil of al-Basra.
