Armed groups assassinate 12 persons in Algeria

A security source said yesterday that armed Islamic groups on Thursday evening assassinated 12 persons in two separate attacks in Gleizan province ( 300 Km to the West of the capital Algiers ) and in al-Bleida ( 50 Km to the south of the capital).
The source added that 8 persons were killed in Shatatheyah, an isolated village near Gleizan, whereas other 4 were assassinated in al-Sheffa area in al-Bleida province. No clarifications were issued on the detailed conditions of the two massacres.
Meantime, and armed Islamic group installed a check point on the road leading to Muftah, in al-Bleida province and killed 9 persons on Wednesday evening, thereby increasing the number of persons killed in acts of violence attributed to Islamists since the beginning of March to 80 in Algeria, according to calculations of official and press statements.
