Regional-Iraq, Politics, 3/28/2003

The International Arab Trade Union held in Damascus on Thursday an emergency meeting chaired by Chairman of Syria's Trade Union, Mohammad Sha'ban Azooz and with the attendance of the International Arab Trade Union' Secretary General, Hasan Jammam.

Azooz in his speech spoke of the current dangerous stage, the challenges which the Arab states thay are being exposed to.

He said that this aggression is represented by the unjust aggression against Iraq under the pretext of disarmament weapons of mass destruction stressing that this war is also targeting the Arab and Islamic Nations.

He lauded steadfastness and sacrifices of the Palestinian and Iraqi people confronting "the Zionist schemes" aiming at the division of the Arab states into small states and cantons.

Azooz renewed Syria's firm and principled stance and her absolute defense of the legitimate Arab rights in the international circles in light of the international resolutions.

For his part, Jammam underlined that the US-British aggression on Iraq aims at dominating the Arab states and "sizing their resources in service of the Zionist interests."

He called for supporting the Iraqi people, enhancing and unifying efforts for confronting the "imperialist aggressive attacks which our peoples in Iraq and Palestine are being exposed to."
