Morocco denies reports on plans to postpone, boycott FTA talks with US
Morocco-USA, Economics, 3/27/2003

Moroccan denied Tuesday reports from Al-Jazira TV channel saying Morocco weighs boycotting free trade negotiations with the US, and news from Reuters agency that the kingdom is about to postpone these talks.

The communication department said in a clarification published Tuesday Morocco has not made any request of the kind and that, actually, the second round of negotiations were this Tuesday at the level of experts in Geneva.

The ministry criticized the way the Qatari TV channel dealt with these news and its "lack of precision and professionalism," adding that "it has already cast erroneous news on Morocco without cross-checking."

Al Jazira had broadcast Monday news alleging that Morocco decided to boycott free trade talks with the United States, while Reuters news agency said, on the same day, that Morocco was about to ask for postponement.
