Russia: stop the aggression against Iraq

The Russian Higher Council for Parliament called yesterday all the world parliaments to exert efforts to an immediate stop to the aggression on Iraq and to solve the Iraqi issue by diplomacy and in line with UN resolutions.

In a statement, issued yesterday, the council warned against the dangers of the war on Iraq and on the Middle East stressing that it constitutes a violation to the international laws and charters.

In this context, Russia Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov criticized the U.S. and British liberation motto of the war on Iraq which stresses that Washington and London's pretexts on liberating Iraq is a lie.

In a speech before the Russian Higher Council Union, Ivanov stressed that the American and British war against Iraq and their attempt to impose a system on an independent state is violation of the international laws.

For his part, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister expressed Russia's support to the Arab League and the Non-Aligned Movement's demand to hold a UN Security Council session on Iraq and to concentrate this session on stopping the war on Iraq.
