More Moroccan parties, unions join in condemning aggression on Iraq

Several Moroccan parties and trade unions condemned the aggression of the US-led coalition on Iraq, calling for an immediate halt of military operations.

In a release published on Monday by "Al Bayane," the political bureau of Socialism and Progress Party (PPS), government, criticized "the coalition's military aggression" and vehemently denounced this war that "exposes the brotherly people of Iraq to tragedy and plight."

PPS also expressed its "total and absolute" refusal of military option, considering it "a blatant infringement of the international legality and the provisions of the international law."

In a statement published by "L'Opinion," the Chairman of the Moroccan Human Rights League (LMDDH), Ben Abdelhadi Kabbab lashed out at the war against Iraq as an utter "violation of the international legality and the United Nations charter.

The Vanguard Democratic and Socialist party (PADS), opposition, called for the countries forming the US-led coalition to cease the war and withdraw their forces from Iraq, hailing "the resistance of the brotherly Iraqi people in defending freedom, dignity and in defying the new Nazi axis."

The Moroccan Writers Union (UEM) called the international public opinion "to stand by the Iraqi people and condemn the US position," urging the permanent members of the Security Council "to coerce the United States into putting an end to war."

The national health union, affiliated to the Democratic Labor Confederation (CDT), voiced intention to observe sit-ins in all national health centers, to protest "the war of aggression against the Iraqi people," expressing "absolute and total solidarity with Iraq."
