Israel continues breaking in operations, Abbas starts consultations to form a Palestinian government
Palestine-Israel, Military, 3/24/2003

The Palestinian occupation forces Saturday broke into several Palestinian areas in the West Bank and Gaza. Three Palestinians were arrested in Dana village, al-Khalil district and three in Jenin area and other two in Beit Hanya to the north of Jerusalem under the pretext of throwing explosives under at Israeli cars.

Concerning contacts, sources close to the Israeli prime minister said that no change was made on what was agreed between Israel and the USA concerning the "roadmap" and this plan will be issued only when Israel is given the opportunity to give its comments on it.

According to the Israeli radio, the sources denied reports from the USA which said that Washington intends to issue the "roadmap" immediately after Mahmoud Abbas will form his government.

Meantime, the new Israeli prime minister ( Mahmoud Abbas) has started consultation with Fatah, which is headed by the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat, in the framework of his efforts to form his government, according a Palestinian parliamentary source.

For this purpose Abbas met with Muhammad Hourani, the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Fatah movement in the Palestinian legislative council.

Hourani said in a press statement that he opposes in the name of the group that members of the PLO executive committee join the government. He also stressed that Fatah movement stresses that the new government will not include persons clouded by reports on corruption in the Palestinian leading commissions.

However, Abbas who agreed on Wednesday officially to assume the post of the prime minister, has just less than three weeks to form it.
