Morocco very disappointed following use of force in Iraq crisis

"Morocco is very disappointed after the use of force to settle the Iraq crisis," said Thursday Moroccan communication minister, spokesman for the government, Nabil Benabdellah.

The minister told a press briefing "Morocco will not hesitate to stand by the Iraqi people in these difficult circumstance to alleviate their sufferings and defend Iraq's unity, security and choices."

The spokesman also recalled that since the crisis broke out, Morocco has been exerting efforts to make the peace option prevail and "H.M. King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has taken the initiative to contact several world leaders, in a bid to contribute to all international efforts to find a peaceful way out, give enough chances to diplomatic efforts and adopt international legality as an option to reach the elimination of mass destruction weapons in Iraq, in order to put an end to the crisis and spare the Iraqi brother people more sufferings."

He went on that the sovereign has been constantly insisting on the importance and necessity of respecting Iraq's independence, territorial integrity and regional security, stressing that the king also warned against dangers and repercussions that developments in the crisis would have on stability and security in this part of the Arab states.

Morocco has always brought its contribution to Arab and regional efforts in this crisis that it granted a special importance, as required by its national duty and international legality principles, said the spokesman renewing Morocco's adherence to international law in order to spare Iraq and the whole region more destruction, tensions and instability."
