France calls for a UN conference concerning the Middle East
Palestine-France, Politics, 3/21/2003
France's French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin on Thursday called for convening an international conference concerning the Middle East, stressing the increasing importance of this matter more than any time in the past.
The French foreign minister said that "a move should be made swiftly with a spirit of respect and dialogue and it is necessary to move urgently in order to open a new political horizon to achieve the ambitions of the Israeli people to attaining security and the need of the Palestinian people to attain justice."
The French minister called for the issuance of the "roadmap" prepared by the Quartet committee composed of the US, the EU, Russia and the UN which states to solve the differences and establish the Palestinian state in several stages by the fall of 2005.
