Jordan reopens al-Jazira office in Amman
Jordan-Qatar, Politics, 3/19/2003

The Jordanian minister of information Muhammad al-Edwan announced re-opening Qatar's al-Jazira TV channel office the authorities closed in 1002.

The Jordanian official news agency, Petra, said the decision came to give al-Jazira the opportunity to carry out its due role like other media in the Jordanian arena under the current conditions overwhelming the region.

The Jordanian minister of information decided on August 7th to close al-Jazira office and withdraw the license given to it and to prevent its correspondents from practicing any activity. This was, however, after the TV station broadcasted a series of the "opposite direction" program considered by Amman as defaming for the late Jordanian King Hussein Bin Talal.
