Yemeni kills an American, Canadian and commits suicide

A Yemeni official said that an armed Yemeni named Naji al-Kamim killed yesterday one American and one Candian working in Safir oil field in the Mareb province, situated 300 Km to the east of Sanaa before he committed suicide.

The source added that one Canadian and one Yemeni were wounded in the attack.

News reports in Yemen said that the Yemeni authorities opened an investigation to this effect immediately in order to find out how the weapons entered the position at a time security measures have been intensified because of fears of westerners being targeted in Yemen with the war the US threatens against Iraq.

Last week, Canada warned its citizens from traveling to Yemen because of the increased tension in the Middle East.

In December, 2002, one armed Yemeni, presumed to have links with al-Qaida organization killed three American working in a hospital run by Christian clergy in Jableh, the province of Abb, 170 Km to the south of Sanaa.
