Yemen-Iran, Politics, 3/19/2003
The Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh yesterday in Sanaa met with the Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi, currently visiting Yemen. The meeting was attended by the Yemeni foreign minister Abu baker al-Qurabi.
A Yemeni official source said that during the meeting the two sides reviewed developments of conditions in the region, foremost being the current war threats against Iraq, as well as conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the escalation of the "aggressive practices against the Palestinian people."
Following the meeting, the Yemeni president said that the two countries renew their positions in rejecting war against Iraq.
The Yemeni president indicated the identical view points between Yemen and Iran regarding all discussed issues at the bilateral, regional or international levels, commending the development of relations between the two countries.
President Saleh said "we are for peaceful solutions and with the implementation of international resolutions concerning the mass destruction weapons in the Middle East region."
He stressed that a war against Iraq will have negative consequences on international relations and on security and stability in the region.
