Okaz: Saudi army chief denies resignation requests from Saudi forces in Kuwait
Saudi Arabia-Kuwait, Politics, 3/19/2003

Saudi Arabia's army chief of staff Lt. Gen. Saleh al-Mahya has denied any requests for resignation inside the Saudi forces working in Kuwait as part of al-Jazeera Shield forces.

In a statement to the Saudi daily Okaz issued yesterday, al-Mahya said that what was published in certain papers on this issue is baseless.

Al-Mahya added that the foreign forces exist at prince Sultan air base in Riyadh are just to monitor the air sanctions imposed on southern Iraq. He added that the presence of foreign forces in Ar'ar area near the Iraqi borders is in the framework of the necessary measures to deal with refugees or displaced in the area.
