UN human rights committee opened deliberations

Libya's ambassador to the UN Najat al-Hajjaji in Geneva yesterday opened works of the 59th annual session of the UN committee for human rights by denounced the "catastrophic war" against Iraq.

In a speech she delivered yesterday at the inaugural session, she indicated the accumulation of "dark clouds" in the skies of the Middle East. A matter which warns of a catastrophic war in which human rights will be eventually violated, especially man's right to live. She defended the " the right of self determination for the Palestinians."

Al-Hajaji noted the terrorist acts which took place in various parts of the world, noting that certain countries have carried out oppressive acts, violating the rights of the evacuees, the refugees, the minorities and those asking for entry visas."

The Iraqi crisis overwhelmed the works of the session which is attended by 31 representatives for the governmental and non- governmental organizations which will discuss along 6 weeks human rights violations all over the world.
