Khartoum given priority to deal with Darfour problems

The Sudanese defense minister Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh has stressed that the government gives priority to dealing with political issues of Darfout incidents because of the legitimate demands requested by these areas to development and services.

A security meeting was held to discuss the recent reports on the results of the negotiations with the rebels of the province.

Adam said that the participants in the meeting listened to the demands of the rebels and the extend to which they can be implemented from the side of the government. He hinted to the inclination of the militias to a peaceful solution.

In this regard, Khartoum indicated that the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir is personally concerned with the events of Darfour and that the state follows up the incidents closely at all levels.

In another development, works of the 8th summit of the common market of the countries of Southern and Eastern Africa COMESEA was opened yesterday in Khartoum.

In an inaugural speech, the Sudanese president, who is also the current chairman of the summit, stressed the need of exerting efforts in order to achieve peace and security in the countries of the region through joint dialogue and understanding, noting that peace and security are the two main conditions for attaining development in Africa.

Bashir explained that the big challenge which faces the African continent is to raise the living standards. He stressed the need of economic integration via COMSEA and to achieve customs federation among these countries.

In his speech, Ethiopia's prime minister called for doubling all efforts to solve food problems and giving such problems priority in the set future programs.
