Tlass: US will kill the UN charter if acts without international support
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 3/17/2003
Syrian Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Deputy Premier and Defense Minister, Gen. Mustafa Tlass, underlined the dangerous situation in the region and the catastrophic consequences of war which would affect not only Iraq but the whole region and world.
In a speech during graduation ceremony of the Leadership and Higher Staff Officers, Tlass indicated that if Washington wages a war on Iraq without UN support, it means the end of the organization, and end of abiding by its charter, principles and laws which were founded for keeping the international stability and security.
He pointed out to the complete identical policies pursued by the US and Israel and spoke of "Israel's desire for war on Iraq to cover their crimes, abort the Intifada in the occupied Arab territories."
Tlass represented the army and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, Bashar Al-Assad.
