US administration for helping new Palestinian premier to perform duty

The US administration has asked Israel to help the appointed Palestinian prime minister Mahmoud Abbas after a decision provides for his appointment was ratified.
Israeli sources said that the advisor of the USA President National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice conveyed a message to this effect to a group of leaders of a Jewish community in the USA during a meeting she held with them at the White House by the end of last week.
Rice added that the aim of Bush's speech was to support Abbas in his effort to get authorities in the context of his post as a prime minister.
She added that the US administration pins great importance on the role played by the Palestinian financial official Salaam Fayyad. The Israeli radio reported.
