Ethiopia denies deployment of forces in Somalia
Somalia-Ethiopia, Politics, 3/15/2003
Ethiopia has denied accusations by the Somali government on troop deployment in its territories with the aim of introducing more instability in the country.
A statement by the Ethiopian foreign ministry defied Makadishu to prove its allegations, calling on any side concerned with this issue to visit the area and investigate these accusations.
The statement stressed that Addis Ababa seeks peace and stability in the region and its borders. He accused the provisional Somali government of seeking to obstruct the current Somali peace process in Kenya, through launching such accusations.
The provisional government in Somalia -- which controls only part of the capital Makadishu -- on Tuesday accused Addis Ababa of sending huge number of its troops to villages situated in Gheido and Bakoul districts.
Worthy mentioning that the Somali provisional governments has repeated its accusations to Ethiopia of occupying areas in Somalia which lacks a strong central government since toppling the regime of Seyad Berri in 1991.
