Saudi al-Jazeera: Kuwaiti official deny citizens evacuating to neighboring states

The Kuwaiti ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Jaber D'eij al-Sabah, has denied any evacuation of Kuwaiti citizens to Saudi Arabia or to the neighboring states because of fears of a war against Iraq.

In exclusive statements to the Saudi daily al-Jazeera issued yesterday, al-Deij played down what what was quoted by the mass media that the Kuwaitis bought real estates in Egypt and Jordan because of fear of war. He said that the Kuwaitis have for a long time been buying real estates in European and Arab states. The Kuwaiti ambassador stressed that his country is stable and practicing its life naturally. He continued that the implications and pressures of the war did not affect the Kuwaitis nor the citizens of other countries living in it, including 130,000 Saudis, with none of them going back home.

On Transferring large sums of money from Kuwait to the UAE banks, al-Deij denied any such transfers. He said that there are certain financial transfers for foreign companies which have clients in Kuwait and those do not include Kuwaitis.
