American-Arab association campaign against new aid to Israel

A coalition of American organizations are joining forces on Wednesday, March 12, to urge members of Congress to oppose Israel's substantial request for new assistance, including $4 billion in direct military aid and $8 billion in American taxpayer guaranteed loans.

A statement by the organization encourages all members and friends to contact their congressional representatives and take part in this national lobbying campaign.

Opponents of additional aid to Israel will be e-mailing or phoning on March 12 members of Congress to lobby against spending $12 billion more in new American taxpayer money for Israel.

ADC argues that approving such a massive increase in U.S. aid for Israel would fail to account for the long-term political and U.S. strategic implications for our national interests if the U.S. appears to be uncritically supporting hard-line Israeli policies at this critical time in the region.

With over $3 billion annually in military and economic assistance from the American taxpayer, Israel is the largest recipient of US foreign aid despite the fact that 200 countries and territories are poorer than Israel. While Israelis are earning approximately $18,000 per capita per year, the income of millions of Americans falls well below this level.

The association also calls congress members to condition foreign assistance on the Israeli government enforcing a total freeze on illegal Israeli settlement activity in occupied Palestinian territories, as repeatedly requested by the U.S. government.
