King Mohammed dedicates socio-economic projects in Oujda

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by prince Moulay Rachid, launched in Oudja on Tuesday several socio-economic projects financed by the Mohammed V solidarity foundation

The sovereign heard explanations on a set of projects, including four sport fields, a center for the protection of abandoned children, a sportsmen training center, a health center, a shelter for women in a difficult situation, and three vocational training spaces for girls.

The king gave the green light to construction works of four sports stadiums, extending over 1,000 square meter, with a total cost of 1.2 million DH (US$ 120,000). The project is set to meet the city's youth needs in terms of sports structures.

The abandoned children center, with a capacity of 60 to 80 children, will require an estimated budget of 2 million DH (US$ 200,000) for construction and equipment. The facility, to be built over a 500 square meter-area, is aimed to secure a decent housing and life to abandoned children who will also be given education and training. The center includes a medical center, administration offices, ten rooms, three workshops and a restaurant.

The sovereign was then briefed on a sports training center and launched construction of a health center.

The sports training center, to be built over 500 square meters, for a total cost of 1.6 million DH (US$ 160,000) will train young athletes in various sports disciplines.

The health center, estimated to cost 1.4 million DH (US$ 14,000), will extend to poor inhabitants quality health services.

The king then launched construction works for a shelter to women facing difficult situations. The center, with a capacity of 60 women, will offer, for free, housing and food to women who will also take education and training courses. The center, to be built over 530 square meters, will cost 1.4 million DH (US$ 14,000).

In the same city, King Mohammed VI heard explanation on a project to build three vocational training centers for girls who will benefit from housing, medical care, counseling for professional integration, a cultural and socio-sports space and literacy and vocational training courses. The project will need an investment of 5.2 million Dh (US$ 520,000) for a total capacity of 800 to 100 boarders.

The city will be endowed with a cancer-treatment center, financed by the Mohammed V solidarity foundation (7 Mln DH), the health ministry (13 Mln DH), the agency for the social and economic promotion of northern provinces (10 Mln DH) and the Oriental regional council (5 Mln DH). The sovereign launched construction works of this center that will extend to the eastern regions populations specialized medical care, prevention services and promote early diagnosis of cancer diseases in coordination with university hospitals.
