One Israeli killed three wounded in Palestinian attack near Hebron
Palestine-Israel, Military, 3/11/2003

The Palestinian legislative council which met in Ramullah yesterday approved to founding of the post of the Prime Minister in the Palestinian Authority, but with limited authorities that do not include negotiations and security; an issue that raised American objections.

Meantime, one Israeli was killed and other three wounded when Palestinians opened fire at a group of Israelis in a street leading to al-Aqsa mosque in Hebron near the western entrance of Kreyat Arbaa settlement.

Israeli sources said that four Israelis were wounded and later one of them died. The sources added that one of the wounded is also in a critical condition.

The sources said that the fire launching incident took place in the same place which witnessed a Palestinian attack in December 2002 in which two Israeli soldiers were killed.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that its forces withdrew from Northern Gaza area, four days after its occupation.

Palestinian eye witnesses said that the soldiers withdrew their tanks from positions they broke into on Friday outside Jabalia camp and from two towns in Gaza.

The Israeli army said that the forces "were redeployed" from the area.

On the other hand, the Israeli amry yesterday morning bombarded in Hebron the apartment of the family of one of the two Palestinians who were killed in an attack they held last Friday at Kreyat Arbaa settlement, according to Palestinian security sources and Israeli sources.

A spokesman for the Israeli army said that the army blew up by dynamite the apartment of Mohsin al-Qawasmi "the activist at the Islamic Hamas resistance movement" who sneaked to Kreyat Arbaa settlement where he had killed one Israeli settler and his wife.
