Morocco interested in Italian small and Medium-sized experience

Morocco is interested in learning from Italy's experience in small and Medium-sized enterprises that constitute the backbone of the peninsula's economy (nearly 4 million of SMEs), said Moroccan minister of industry, trade and telecommunications, Rachid Talbi El Alami.

El Alami, who paid a three-day work visit to Italy, said a set of moves are projected in this regard to support Morocco's new approach in industry, trade and economic development.

The Moroccan official who met several Italian officials and signed with Italian peer a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in telecommunication, said the Confindustria, Italy's employers association, said they are ready to promote economic cooperation with Morocco and Moroccan executives will conduct a promotion mission to Italy to explain to Italian investors Morocco's plan to improve the competitiveness of its economy and investment opportunities.

Italy is financing a program for Mediterranean countries to set up a training network via the Internet, develop administration and electronic trade among them.

Italy is Morocco's 4th trade partner, while Morocco accounts for 6% of Italy's external trade, according to statistics of the Italian national institute of statistics.
