Moroccan Portuguese businessmen meet in casablanca

Moroccan and Portuguese businessmen met in Casablanca Thursday to prospect business opportunities offered by the two countries.

The Portuguese delegation, made up of 23 economic operators, represents 17 companies operating in agriculture, electric cables, industrial equipment, fisheries, air conditioning, ready-to-wear, tourism, import-export and healthcare.

Head of the Moroccan-Portuguese chamber of trade, industry in Lisbon, Taoufiq Rkibi, highlighted the importance of such meetings that resulted in 2002 in the creation of three joint enterprises ready-to-wear, and metal, mechanic and electric industries.

Portugal has opened for joint SMEs (small and Medium size businesses) a credit line of 10 million Euro, with a 6% interest rate and a payoff deadline beyond eight years, Rkibi added.

Morocco-Portugal trade reached some 110 million Euro in 2002.
