Japan against military acts on Iraq

The Director of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Middle East Department, Arata Fuji, voiced his country's support for Syria's stand of refusal to launch any aggression on Iraq, reiterating the necessity of seriously seeking a peaceful settlement of the Iraqi issue that avert the war.

During a press conference held yesterday in Damascus; attended by representative of local, Arab and foreign mass media, Fuji said that Japanese government has the desire to ensure security and peace in the region and to work with states neighboring Iraq for exerting more efforts to prevent war.

Fuji urged Iraq to cooperate fully with the UN arms inspectors and to implement international resolutions, referring to the necessity of giving those inspectors the sufficient time to finish their mission.

The Japanese official said that his country is full aware of the tragic conditions that Palestinian people are experiencing under Israel's occupation and its incessant violation of human rights.
