Morocco-Mozambique, Politics, 3/6/2003
The Morocco-Mozambique joint commission held in Rabat Tuesday its first meeting, co-chaired by Moroccan delegated minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Taib Fassi Fihri, and Mozambican deputy-FM, Frances Rodriguez.
Speaking at the opening session, Fassi Fihri voiced Morocco's readiness to cooperate with Mozambique in education and training, saying "this first session will be a major step in boosting bilateral relationship" in trade, investment and joint infrastructure and irrigation projects.
The Moroccan official underlined the need to consolidate the legal framework regulating trade between the two African countries in order to improve business climate for economic operators.
Rodriguez lauded Morocco's efforts for peace in the region, and voiced her country's gratitude to King Mohammed VI for Morocco's solidarity gesture after the floods that hit Mozambique in April 2001.
The Mozambican vice-foreign minister who arrived in Morocco Tuesday will be meeting several members of government and speaker of the House of Advisers (parliament upper chamber).
