Al-Assad, Chirac hold telephone talks

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad talked on phone on Wednesday with French President Jacque Chirac. Talks dealt with the Iraqi issue and the consultation before the UN Security Council session next Friday. They stressed the necessity for intensifying efforts to prevent war on Iraq and agreed on continuing contact and coordination
Al-Assad briefed President Chirac on the results of the late Arab Summit and the Arab Committee which was set up to explain the Arab point of view to the permanent members of UN Security Council.
