Egypt, Culture, 3/5/2003
Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak will on March 10 preside over a conference to discuss a strategy to protect and rehabilitate street children.
The conference will be held at the Cairo International Conference Center.
Moshira Khattab, Secretary General of the Technical Council for Childhood and Motherhood, said Sunday that this is the first time in Egypt that a national strategy is drawn up to protect and rehabilitate street children.
The aim is to eliminate this phenomenon and re-integrate these children in society.
The strategy will be carried out in collaboration with the ministries of interior, justice, education, health and population, social affairs, culture, information, manpower and housing.
