Al-Share al-Seyasi: Sudanese leaderships call for separation of south and North

The Sudanese daily al-Share al-Seyasi ( the political street) unveiled yesterday that 50 leading figures representing the ruling National Congress party and the Islamic movement in Sudan handed the Sudanese president a memorandum two days ago demanding him to take the initiative to declare the cessation of northern Sudan from its south.

Well-informed sources in the ruling Sudanese party related in statements stated by the paper yesterday between the sudden decision of the Sudanese President to be absent from the Saturday Arab summit in Sharm esh Sheikh and the said memorandum, noting that leaderships and ministers who enjoy great influence in the ruling Islamic movement handed over this memorandum which they had signed during their meeting with him last Friday.

The sources indicated that there are two trends in the Sudanese government. One is led by Mujahedeen which stressed the need of clinging to Southern Sudan, while the second trend, which includes the Government Islamic leadership which calls for cessation because they believe that the peace process in Southern Sudan will lead to the death of Sudan's national salvation revolution.
