Al-Rai al-Aam: Kuwaiti minister regrets comments by Qathafi
Kuwait-Libya, Politics, 3/5/2003

The Kuwaiti first deputy premier and foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad has expressed his regret over what was stated by Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi on that Kuwait is able to end the Iraqi crisis by just merely saying to America its does not want its protection.

In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Aam issued yesterday, the Kuwaiti minister said that the current crisis is not an Iraqi- Kuwaiti crisis, rather an Iraqi- International, noting that that the foreign bases came into Kuwait in implementation of resolutions issued by the UN Security Council after its invasion of Kuwait and according to Chapter 7 of the UN Charter.

The Kuwaiti minister stressed that al-Jazeera Shield forces came to protect Kuwait after the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein launched his recent threats against Iraq and not for occupying Kuwait.
