French president urges for Maghreban regional integration

French president, Jacques Chirac, currently on a three-day state visit to Algeria, called on Sunday Maghreban states to achieve regional integration. "We believe in regional integration and in solidarity between neighbors. This is our approach in Europe, drawing on our vision of a multi-polar world," Chirac said at a dinner hosted in his honor by Algerian president.
He added that he also dreams of a Mediterranean basin as a genuine space of exchanges, solidarity, dialogue, peace and prosperity, promising France's efforts to this end and to secure that the expanded EU will maintain close ties with partners in the Maghreb.
